Applying to be an Approved Diploma Tutor
NB: From 1 May 2024 the following eligibility criteria will be applied to Diploma Tutors
Eligibity Criteria:
Surgeons teaching hand specific modules/tutorials
- A consultant or senior most level SAS doctor with a major interest in hand surgery.
- Have been awarded the British hand Diploma or have been 5 years at the senior level in Hand surgery they currently hold.
- Has good awareness of the British Hand Diploma and the requirements that need to be met within a tutorial.
Surgeons teaching hand related modules e.g. oncology
- A consultant or senior most level SAS doctor.
- Has an overview awareness of the British Hand Diploma and the requirements that need to be met within a tutorial.
- Be ratified by a Diploma Supervisor, current or historic, as having the appropriate level of knowledge required to deliver the tutorial to the standard required.
Allied health professionals e.g. OT, physio, neurophysiologist, radiologist, prosthetist
- At a senior level within their specialty
- Has an overview awareness of the British Hand Diploma and the requirements that need to be met within a tutorial.
- Be ratified by a Diploma Supervisor, current or historic, as having the appropriate level of knowledge required to deliver the tutorial to the standard required.
Making and application:
- Currently this is a one off event and involves submission of a summary CV (see Section 8 of the course manual).
- It is not expected that every tutor will complete every field of the form but include pertinent extracts from a standard CV.
- Only a CV on the proforma will be accepted for this purpose.
- The resulting approval can be used as evidence of teaching and training for your annual appraisal and the revalidation process
