Hand Surgery Fellowship, Geneva, Switzerland
Gregoire Chick, MD, a hand surgeon in Geneva has set up a fellowship in hand surgery. The fellowship will take place in the private sector and is suitable for surgeons who have completed their training in orthopaedic, plastic or general surgery and intend to pursue a full-time career in hand surgery. Applicants must have some previous experience in hand surgery and should have excellent spoken French. Hand Surgery Fellowship, Biarritz, France
The Department of Hand, Plastic and Orthopaedic Surgery at the Centre Hospitalier Basque in Biarritz, France, is looking for a plastic surgery trainee to join the team for a 6-12 months fellowship, starting on 1 May 2014. The centre is one of the French Hand Trauma Centres (SOS Main) and provides hand trauma care for a wide region. The staff consists of five orthopaedic surgeons and one plastic surgeon.

The weekly schedule will involve hand surgery emergencies, plastic surgery and the outpatient clinic. The fellow will be exposed to a wide variety of aesthetic, plastic and reconstructive surgery and is expected to publish work carried out in the unit.
The post would be suitable for a plastic surgery trainee or a young consultant who would like to gain experience in hand trauma. A basic knowledge of French is expected.

Hand Surgery Fellowship, Perth, Australia
For Plastic or Orthopaedic Surgeons
Location: Dept of Hand Surgery, Fremantle Hospital, Perth, Western Australia
Work type: Full Time, with six- or twelve-months Fellowships available commencing in February and August of the year
Fremantle Hospital is a 300-bed specialist hospital providing medical, elective surgical and acute Hand surgical care. The Department of Hand Surgery at Fremantle Hospital is a combined Orthopaedic and Plastic Surgical Hand Unit undertaking traumatic and elective workload. The unit runs during working hours on Monday to Friday for non-public holidays. We hold a daily hand meeting and run an all-day trauma operating theatre and a morning trauma clinic, as well as some elective clinics and elective operating theatre sessions. Applicants must be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and eligible to work in Australia. Successful applicants will have completed SET 5 with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (or equivalent) and be eligible for (or have been awarded) their Fellowship of Royal Australasian College of Surgeons or equivalent in either Plastic Surgery or Orthopaedic Surgery.

Bruce Bailey Travelling Fellowship
This Fellowship in Coimbatore, India was established in memory of Mr Bruce Bailey, Plastic Surgeon at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Aylesbury, in recognition of the training that Mr Bailey provided for many Indian plastic surgeons, including Dr S Raja Sabapathy at the Ganga Hospital in Coimbatore. The fellowship is for a period of two months, probably best taken at the end of the year in November and December. The Fellowship is designed for surgeons in the middle or late part of their training and is undertaken in a private hospital with orthopaedic, plastic surgical and hand teams, with a large volume of work related to trauma. The unit also does a lot of work on soft tissue cover for lower limb injuries.
Included in the fellowship is a one-week laboratory microsurgery course at the hospital and a trip to the Indian Society for Surgery of the Hand meeting or to attend the annual meeting of the Association of Plastic Surgeons of India. The salary for the duration of the fellowship is £750.00 to include food and accommodation. Research Fellowship in Hand Surgery, Hong Kong
This fellowship is for a period of six months and a monthly allowance of £1,000.00 is offered. The fellow is expected to complete one or two research projects and one or two reviews of clinical material. The fellow can also be involved in clinical work, including some exposure to general orthopaedic trauma.

Hand Fellowship, Johannesburg, South Africa
A full-time hand surgical fellowship is available to qualified, registered surgeons at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Johannesburg. This is a large, very busy hospital of 3,000 beds, serving the population of Soweto outside Johannesburg. It is the premiere teaching hospital of the University of Witwatersrand. The Hand Unit’s portfolio ranges from microsurgery to congenital with a heavy emphasis on trauma. This is a fully clinical appointment. The fellow fits in between the consultants and the registrar levels, thus he must gain accreditation with the Health Professions Council of South Africa. The minimal period is six months.

Hand Fellowship, St Luke's Hospital, Sydney, Australia
The Departments of Hand Surgery of St Luke's and Sydney Hospital offer a fellowship in hand surgery to suitably qualified applicants which provides clinical experience at each of the two hospitals over a 12-month period.
Applications are invited for the periods from July 2012 to end-June 2013. The fellowship is suitable for surgeons who have completed training in orthopaedic, plastic or general surgery and who intend to pursue a full-time career in hand surgery. Full qualification in one of the above surgical fields is essential. Applicants must have some previous experience in hand surgery and an interest in clinical research.
The successful applicant will undertake clinical duties at each of the two hospitals and will be expected to complete a research project ready for publication during the 12-month period.

International Reverse Fellowship Programme
The American Association for Hand Surgery (AAHS) and the Hand Surgery Endowment (HSE) established the International Reverse Fellowship programme in 2017. The programme sponsors an international hand surgeon’s visits with AAHS member surgeons at their institutions with the aim to provide expert, hands-on experience so that the Fellow may return to his or her host country and better local care while also educating others in learned techniques to perpetuate the improvement of global hand care.
The AAHS and HSE leaderships are currently accepting applications for this programme for 2019. Applicants must be surgeons between 30 and 40 years of age, have completed their surgical training and be early in their surgical career. Ideal applicants are teachers; individuals who are excited to learn and educate others. Applicants must be from a developing nation.
The selected International Reverse Fellow will receive $10,000 USD to be used towards a 4-week visit to North America to travel to the institutions of and train with two AAHS member surgeons. The 4-week period will allow for travel and 1 week at each AAHS member institution. The 2019 Reverse Fellow and host institutions will be paired by the end of 2018. Jeff Ecker Hand Wrist Fellowship, Australia
The fellowship programme is provided for specialists in training who want to gain further experience in hand and wrist surgery. The fellow will receive one-on-one mentorship with hand & wrist surgeon, Mr Jeff Ecker, in both clinic and operative settings for a duration of 6 months. The fellow will be involved in all aspects of adult hand surgery, gaining experience in pre-operative, operative and post-operative management, will be exposed to various conditions and injuries, and immersed in the latest surgical techniques relevant to the hand and wrist. The fellow will have active involvement in the hand and wrist clinic, and routinely assist in surgery with both elective and trauma cases. Collaborating with Mr Ecker and his research team, the fellow will prepare and publish a minimum of one paper in a peer reviewed journal during the program.

SW Sydney Hand Surgery Fellowship
- Available for 6 months, starting February and August each year.
- Salary is at the senior registrar level, relatively generous for Australian fellowships.
- Funding is jointly from Medartis and SW Sydney LHD.
- The position is full-time, with a 1-in-3 on-call requirement (non-resident).
- Based at South West Sydney Hand Centre at Fairfield Hospital, with operating rights at the major trauma centre of Liverpool Hospital.
- The Hand Centre is a dedicated multi-disciplinary regional service, covering a population of over 1 million in an area of 3,500 sq km.
- The consultants are from mixed Plastic and Orthopaedic backgrounds, all with specialist post-Fellowship training in hand surgery, and working predominantly or exclusively in hand surgery
