Susan is a Consultant Hand and Plastic Surgeon at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle. She completed a TIG fellowship in Newcastle and a fellowship in Sydney. Susan has an interest in education and training, has been TPD for Plastic Surgery in the North East and is a current plastic surgery SAC member and FRCS (Plast) examiner.
Kalpesh Vaghela

Kalpesh is a Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal London Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust. He completed his orthopaedic training in London on the Percivall Pott rotation followed by fellowships at the Pulvertaft Hand Centre, Derby and the Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney, Australia. His main interests are medical education, complex trauma and wrist arthroscopy.

Peter Willett:
Public and Patient Initiative (PPI) Representative
Peter had an academic career and is now Emeritus Professor of Information Science at the University of Sheffield. He has a personal interest in hand surgery and acts as the patient representative on the Committee
Abdul Hassan
BOTA Trainee representative
Abdul is a ST7 Trauma & Orthopaedic Registrar within the Severn Deanery. He is the BOTA representative for the BSSH Education and Training Committee as well as the Instructional Course Committee.
He was previously the Severn BOA Diversity Equality and Inclusion Junior Champion and has completed two months working in The BSSH LION Hand Project in Malawi at the beginning of this year during an Out of Programme Experience (OOPE)
Kiron Koshy
PLASTA Trainee representative
Kiron is an ST7 Specialist Registrar in Plastic Surgery within the North East Deanery. He is the PLASTA representative for the BSSH Education and Training Committee as well as the Instructional Course Committee.
Kiron is passionate about Hand and Nerve Surgery and will be commencing the Hand and Nerve Fellowship at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham in 2025.
Debbie Miles
BAHT representative
Debbie is a Physiotherapist and Accredited Hand Therapist with 15 years clinical experience in hand therapy. She has also served on the BAHT education sub-committee for 12 years including two as chair, and currently works full-time teaching in higher education at the University of Essex whilst also pursuing a Professional Doctorate in Physiotherapy.
