Various techniques are in use around the world and only a few are covered here. In many cases these systems also use non-pharmacological methods for patient calming. These can be relatively low tech, such as music and/or conversation from a support worker. Higher tech, and cost, options include virtual reality headsets or tablet computers playing film or television content as a distraction.
