FESSH Giant Award 2025

The Federation of Societies for Surgery of the Hand (FESSH) is inviting its national hand society members to nominate one of their own members for the FESSH Giant 2025 award. We are therefore asking for suggestions from the BSSH membership.
The award recognises and acknowledges surgeons who have greatly contributed to hand surgery over the last decades. The successful nominee is celebrated during the opening ceremony of the annual FESSH Congress.
FESSH Nomination Criteria
Member of BSSH
Age 55 years or older (preferably still in active practice)
A Giant must also have achieved 3 or more of the following criteria, which must be detailed on the nomination form:
1. Ground breaking achievements
2. Research, publications and presentations
3. Influence and impact and recognition by peers
4. Sustainability
5. Mentorship role
6. Education
7. Organisation

The deadline for the BSSH to receive nominations is Sunday 12th January 2025 at 23:59.
After the deadline, the nominees who meet the criteria will be voted on by the BSSH Council in an anonymous vote on the electronic voting software Mi-Voice using a single transferable voting methodology. Please note that the BSSH Council will use the information provided on the nomination form when voting so please be as detailed as possible. The successful individual will be announced by the end of February 2025.
